At the tender age of 19, Juliet Doherty is no stranger to competition having already competed successfully at many international ballet competitions.
A natural beauty hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Juliet trains at the famed Master Ballet Academy in Scottsdale, Arizona with Slawomir and Irena Wozniak.
Currently in Varna, Bulgaria for the International Ballet Competition, Juliet will be competing in the Senior Solo and Pas de Deux categories. This section allows for entrants of up to 26 years of age, meaning she will be competing alongside soloists and principals from international ballet companies.
MDM have been lucky enough to gain exclusive access to Juliet’s daily diary for the duration of her time in the competition which is running for the next 7 days. Each day of the competition we will be posting updates of Juliet’s experience in Bulgaria. You will get a look behind the scenes into the life of a true ballerina!

The adventure begins..
Juliet shared some words with us about her experience at IBC Varna.
“The challenges that I encountered in this competition have made me grow as an artist and person. I feel stronger knowing that I can handle more than I thought was possible.
Highlights of my trip include performing in the beautiful, green Open-Air theatre, meeting and watching other artists from around the world and swimming in the Black Sea!
My experience at Varna IBC was one I will never forget. I want to thank everyone who followed my journey, and supported me through each and every moment. This would not have been possible without the tremendous help from my family, my teachers, and my partner. They all generously contributed to this memory I will treasure always!”
