Junior Ambassador Series ♥
Getting to know our Junior Ambassador, Arabella Moore.
How old are you?
I'm 14 years old.
What is the story, were you always dancing around the house?
My older sister began first and every time we dropped her off at dance, Mum said I would always ask when I could could join. So at the age of 3, I began ballet lessons and at around 6 years old I started doing competitions.
What do you love about ballet?
I love being able to work on the technical things which then allow me to dance freely.
I especially love playing with port de bras as I can really express myself through my upper body. I love grand allergo and adage in particular.
What is your dance dream?
I am really interested in contemporary dance, so my dance dream is to be a part of either a contemporary such as Sydney Dance Company or The Netherlands Dance Theater. For ballet, I would be proud to join my national company, the RNZB.
Do you have a favourite dancer, what is it about her/him that inspires you?
My favourite dancer dancer is Dusty Button as she absolutely amazing at both ballet and contemporary and she is so determined to achieve whatever she sets her mind to.
What has been your proudest dancing achievement to date?
My proudest dancing moment was in 2015 when I competed in Belgium, Brussels, in an international ballet competition where I won gold at 11 years of age.
What are your dance goals for this year?
This year I am having surgery on my foot so my goal for this year is to have a speedy recovery and to strengthen my ankles back up after surgery. So for now I am working on my upper body and working to maintain my fitness and strength as I am unable to dance at the moment.
The main thing I am really trying to do is to stay positive as I focus on my recovery.
What do you like to do outside of dance?
I love to catch up with my friends as often as possible, I also love baking and cooking for my family and friends.
Do you have a secret talent?!?
Not any really amazing ones the only thing I can think of is I can roll my tounge into a flower like shape!
What has been your favourite time on stage?
My favourite time on stage was when I performed my own choreography for the very first time. I also really enjoy our dance schools end of year performances as I get to dance with all of my friends.
My favourite book at the moment is ‘Wonder’ but I also enjoyed both the ‘Hunger games’ trilogy and the ‘Divergent’ trilogy.
I have two!
“Finding your power doesn’t have to be scary, instead it makes you feel, in control, strong and proud." - Misty Copeland.
I also like;
“Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than the one with all the facts.” - Albert Einstein.
